2012’s Top Special Needs Posts Countdown, #6
The countdown of 2012’s top special needs popular posts reaches the halfway mark today as we take a look at the 6th most popular post of the year. This post is the second from a DifferentDream blogger, this one a poem from Stephanie Ballard.
Post #6: Teachers Who Loves Our Kids with Special Needs, We Thank You
Stephanie’s post featured a poem she wrote and gave to the educators who made school special for her son Braeden when he went to kindergarten. Braeden was born with a severe heart defect called hypoplastic left heart syndrome, and he has undergone three open heart surgeries. Here’s what Stephanie says about why she wrote the poem, Room 116:
I decided to write a poem of gratitude for the wonderful people who made room 16 a place of love, encouragement and growth. We have been blessed to have the most wonderful teachers, therapists, aides and respite workers come into our lives in the last few years… and as the mother of a special needs child, it has made all the difference.
To read the poem and get to know Braeden, go to Teachers Who Loves Our Kids with Special Needs, We Thank You. By the way, this post comes with a tissue warning!
What Do You Think?
Are you done drying your eyes yet? No wonder Braeden’s teacher framed the poem and hung it in the classroom! Have you created special gifts for your child’s teachers? What did you make? What made those teachers so special? Leave a comment if you like. To read more of Steph’s poems go to her website at www.BraedensHeartJourney.com.
