Top 100 Special Needs Resources on the Web
The top 100 special needs resources on the web list was released recently by the folks at PhD in Special Education Online. And surprise, surprise…Different Dream made the cut! The news made me mighty thankful this Thanksgiving, that’s for sure! Almost as thankful as I was on my birthday when this website was named as one of the 40 best blogs for special needs parents.
The Top 100: Website Categories
The sites are divided into the following categories:
- Special Education
- Down Syndrome
- Autism Spectrum
- Batten Disease
- Parenting
- Miscellaneous
Different Dream appears as #64 the parenting column, along with some of my fave special needs parenting sites like Fighting Monsters with Rubber Swords, Love That Max, Hopeful Parents, and Support for Special Needs.
The Top 100 Other Favorites
Personal favorites listed elsewhere are:
- Assistive Technology in the special education category
- Noah’s Dad and Down Wit Dat in the Down Syndrome category
- The Inclusive Church in the miscellaneous category
Here are a few of the sites I’m eager to explore the next time I’m not busy lounging around the house eating bonbons:
- The Life that Chose Me The title says a lot about the perspective of special education teacher who blogs there.
- Life Is Simple. It’s Just Not Easy That title nails life as the parent of a child with special needs, in this case Down syndrome.
- Try Defying Gravity Yup, I’m a sucker for catchy titles.
- Taste Life. My son had an esophageal anomaly so this site about eosinophilic esophagitis, a condition that makes a child allergic to all food, is of interest to me.
Your Top 100?
But enough about what caught my eye at the Top 100 Special Needs Resources on the Web. Which of your favorites made the list? Which ones are going check out when the bonbon box is empty? What favorites are missing that deserve recognition? Leave your ideas in the comment box.
