Different Dream is on the road again this spring and summer. Here’s a quick run down of where Jolene will be with links to the different venues. If where she’s going is near where you live, she’d love to connect with you.
Fayetteville, Arkansas is the first destination. Along with several other speakers, Jolene will present two workshops (Managing Your Time Without Losing Your Mind and Ten Ways Friends Can Help Parents of Kids with Special Needs) at the Engage Conference hosted by 99 Balloons on April 14. The details about how to register can be found at the Engage Conference website.
Next comes Ohio and the Infusion Fusion Live! Conference held April 20-21, 2018 at Bay Presbyterian Church near Cleveland. Jolene and several regular Different Dream guest bloggers will present workshops on Saturday. Her first workshop is Straight Talk and Strategies for Coping with Special Needs Parenting Stress and the second is They Do Remember: The Impact of Early Medical Trauma on Children. This conference is FREE so click over to the Infusion Fusion Live! Conference website and register right away!
On May 5, she’s speaking closer to home to an audience close to her heart at a Foster Grandparents Inservice. The topic is childhood trauma, and the training will be from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at Augustana Lutheran Church. (309 S Greene St. Boone, IA 50036)
May ends with Wonderfully Made Family Camp Volunteer Training. It will be held at Hidden Acres Christian Center (3837 Union Avenue near Dayton, IA 50530). If you would like to volunteer to help at the camp (May 31–June 3), you must first fill out an application and pass a background check.
In June the topic switches from special needs parenting to writing in mid June when Jolene and her daughter Anne go to the Iowa Christian Writers Workshop, which runs from June 14 through the 16th. Thursday morning, Jolene’s talk is Beyond Vanity Publishing: 10 Creative Ways to Publish Your Writing. On Friday morning Jolene and her daughter Anne Fleck will talk about what they’ve learned hosting the Home Again Podcast in their workshop A Blog for your Ears: Podcast Basics. The conference is at Riverside Bible Camp in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Aspiring writers can register for the conference at Iowa Christian Writers Workshop website.
Finally come 4 sessions of An Educators Guide to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in Children in June and July. This is a professional development/recertification class for educators. Each session is two days long, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM at Heartland Area Education Association (6500 Corporate Drive in Johnston, IA). Sessions are June 21 & 22, June 25 & 26, July 26 & 27, and July 30 & 31. To be on the safe side, register at least a week ahead of time through the Heartland Area Education Association website.
If you plan to attend one of these conferences or classes, leave a note below so Jolene can meet with you and talk!
