Encouragement for parents of kids with special needs often comes in the form of inspiring quotes. So enjoy these quotes, compliments of Eliana Tardio.

A little encouragement goes a long way for parents of kids with special needs. Eliana Tardio, parent of two children with Down Syndrome, knows this well. So in a recent post at Babble, she created a slide show of inspirational quotes to encourage parents.

Encouragement for Parents: Inspirational Quotes

Here are a few of the quotes featured in the slide show:

  • To find what you seek in the road of life, the best proverb of all is that which says, “Leave no stone unturned.” ~ Edward Bulwer Lytton
  • Storms make oaks take root. ~ Proverb
  • I always knew looking back on the tears would make me laugh, but I didn’t know looking back at the laughs would make me cry.
  • In the hopes of reaching the moon men fail to see the flowers that blossom at their feet ~ Albert Schweitzer
  • Great effort from great motives is the best definition of a happy life ~ William Ellery Channing
  • The more difficulties one has to encounter, within and without, the more significant and the higher in inspiration his life will be. ~ Horace Bushnell
  • First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do. ~ Epictetus

    Ivanette,

I’m so glad the post was an encouragement to you. Best wishes and prayers as you look for a school that can meet her needs and value your daughter’s beauty.

I have an autistic daughter who is four… And the struggle.to find a school for her is gettn to me… Bt tonight she fell asleep in my arms and I just knew I cnt give up… And many as the tears have been and the hurt of the stupid remarks made about her she has made it worthwile… Life id beautiful… Bt the beauty lies in seeing the little things… The small.moments… That a mothers heart will never forget. May each special needs family be blessed and always hold on no matter what

    Hi Angie,

You are on a difficult journey. How wonderful that you are able to draw strength from your daughter.

Hi my name is Angie and I have a daughter who was left disable due to Brain Cancer. Its been 13 years of ups and downs. At times it feels overwhelming but all it takes is one glance at her and my strength replaces that moment of feeling alone through this journey…

    Hi Deborah,

What a supportive quote. And very timely since Annette Funicello died just a few weeks ago from complications of multiple sclerosis.

My favorite quote that encourages me as a special needs parent is:

“Life does not have to be perfect to be wonderful.” -Annette Funicello

Life as a special needs parent is anything but perfect, but as imperfect as it is there always seems to be many opportunities to see how wonderful our lives are really in & out of the special needs bubble. It really is my favorite quote.
